These volumes make us a leader in converting to recycled polyester and we hope that our decisions can inspire and motivate whole industries to change. Polyester is a durable, wrinkle-resistant and easy-care material that is ideal for many home furnishing products like rugs, pillows, quilts and cushions. The downside to virgin polyester is that it is made from oil, coal or natural gas. This means that when we use virgin polyester, we are exhausting the planet’s natural resources. Our response to this, is to replace all virgin polyester with recycled in our products.

When we make products from recycled polyester, we give a second life to material that is not biodegradable and reduce the amount that may otherwise end up in landfill or the ocean. Instead, PET and other sources of polyester are used to make textiles, storage boxes, kitchen fronts and even lamps. Recycled polyester is just as good as virgin polyester in terms of looks, quality and function, and produces about 50% less in CO2 emissions. And the material is just as clean and safe in every way.

How to connect your Ikea Trådfri lights to Google Home
Place one of the mounting brackets inside the frame aligned with the left 16 inch mark and drill pilot holes through the bracket followed by 2 screws to secure the bracket. Select the correct size blinds (34×76 ¾” seems to be the most common size for most windows, but measure your windows accordingly). Fyrtur is awesome for the price, tried KADRILJ too but they are just to see through if you want to block sunlight, or any light for that matter. For the video, I intentionally chose it to happen so slowly. For this, I put false commands like "turn volume to 0" or "turn volume to 40%" between the other commands. All you have to do is use the "close bedroom blind" command or "set blind to 5 percent" .
After you've added all the Ikea Trådfri bulbs you want to your Google Home ecosystem, you can control them like any other smart home device that's currently under Google Home control. Also make sure your IKEA hub is directly connected to your modem, no network devices inbetween . If so, please only test if removal resolves the issue. Apple Homepod and Google Home are optional devices. You use them only if you want to voice-control your blind over a distance.
Try the online smart home experience
You can use DIRIGERA hub and IKEA Home smart app to control your wireless blinds in different ways, set them to go up and down with a timer and create several groups of wireless blinds. In this step, I will tell you how to pair the blind’s remote control with the signal repeater. After pairing our device with the TRÅDFRI Gateway, we will proceed to pair IKEA Home Smart app with the blind’s remote control. IKEA never ceases to amaze us when it comes to making innovative and highly useful products. One such amazing product that I’m in love with lately is FYRTUR – a battery-operated smart blind that works with a remote control. Recycled polyester makes us less dependent on oil.
The amount we convert, is equal to the amount of virgin fossil fuel we eliminate from our polyester raw material . With some exceptions, the challenge is not the conversion of polyester into recycled itself, but to make it available to everyone by keeping it affordable. Buying low environmental impact products often comes with a higher price tag.
Plug in the power cable, connect its other end to the wall outlet and turn it on. IPhone can control FYRTUR blind using iOS Home app or Google Home app. For instance, to control the blind with a remote, you just need the IKEA remote, and the TRÅDFRI Signal repeater. Easy open and close with the push of a button.
Not everyone needs smart blinds, or smart bulbs for that matter. And lots of companies have plenty of innovative connected products that aim for wholesale reinvention in a way that Ikea does not. But for simplicity, cost, and thoughtfulness, Home Smart seems harder to beat than ever. Originally, all polyester was made from oil-based raw materials which are not renewable but we are switching to only using recycled polyester. The good thing is that polyester can be recycled over and over, without negatively affecting the quality of our products.
The window is 150 cm and the blind is 140 cm . It was better if it was mounted just above the window, but the window opened inside and would have hit it. PS im from the Netherlands and my google home is installed on English as primary language and dutch as secondary language.
After your IKEA Home Smart app has successfully connected to FYRTUR blind, the signal repeater, and the TRÅDFRI Gateway, you can now connect it to your smartphone or tablet. Your blind is now successfully paired and connected with your remote, and can be connected via the IKEA Home smart app. You can now screw back the bottom part of your remote and try out the functioning of your new FYRTUR blinds.
